Old Classmate?
Have you been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking...surely I cannot look that old?  You may enjoy this short story, which could be true....

While waiting for my first appointment in the reception room of a new dentist, I noticed his certificate, which bore his full name.

Suddenly, I remembered that a tall, handsome boy with the same name had been in my high school class some 50 years ago.

Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought. This balding, gray-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate.

After he had examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended LHS
.  "Yes," he replied.  "When did you graduate?" I asked.

He answered, "In 1954. Why?"  "You were in my class!" I exclaimed.

He looked at me closely and then asked, "What did you teach?"

REMEMBER WHEN!
By Missy Parrish Stark*

Remember when we walked the halls,
Rushing to our next class;
Or the times we just gathered on the lawn,
Just to talk and sit on the grass!

Or how about the Friday nights,
And all those football games;
When we were so full of hope,
Our visions full of fortunes and fames!

Remember how proud we stood,
On graduation day;
And the sorrow that we felt,
As we went our separate way!

It's hard to believe how much we've changed,
In the fifty-five years that have passed;
But the friendships that we built back then,
Today, they still hold fast.

(*Written by the daughter of Percy Parrish
and dedicated to the Lubbock High School class of 1954.)

HONORARY CLASSMATES

We had many classmates and friends that grew up and went to school with us since grade school. Some of these friends didn't get to graduate with us for different reasons. Some were drug away by their parents who moved to another city, some joined the armed forces and some had to go to work.

These classmates are still our friends and we want to continue to share that friendship and welcome them to be a part of our great class of '54 and participate in the website and attend the 50th reunion.

You will find some of these in our roster and if you know of others, please let us know.
